Welsh Jazz vocalist Debs Hancock discovered her smooth and expressive jazz voice only in recent years, but in that short time has explored her new interest with a keen passion that has been inspired by the great jazz performers of the 20th Century.

  • In 2017, Hancock wrote, performed and toured her own show celebrating the career of Ella Fitzgerald@100. Performed to packed audiences.

  • In 2017 Debs wrote and collated an evening celebrating Jazz @100  with the Liam Dunaghie Trio, Ben Waghorn and Jonny Bruce. Narrated by Jazz Journalist Nigel Jarrett and including a live streamed interval discussion with Mike Rose (The National Jazz Archives) and Nod Knowles of (The  Jazz Promotion Network on the future of jazz.

Debs is a key promoter at Black Mountain Jazz Club and helps to organise it's annual wall2wall Jazz Festival in September.

But the best was saved until last, a stunning ballad interpretation of Thelonious Monk’s “Round Midnight” with Hancock bringing a real ‘torch song’ intensity of feeling to the piece with Shotton providing suitably sensitive accompaniment.'
